  Known for its skiing (Sun Valley), its celebrities (Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher), therapeutic hot springs, lava rock formations, majestic mountain ranges, vast forestry and potatoes, Idaho is a state of tremendous beauty and contradiction. For the outdoor-loving enthusiast, it's a complete and enriching experience. But, if you're traveling to an international destination, you may have to use a little creativity to find an international flight.
  
  

Boise

• Boise, Idaho's largest city and capital, is home to the sole international airport. Boise International Airport is served by seven commercial airlines and offers non-stop daily service to 16 cities, including several of the top 10 busiest airports in the country. While Boise doesn't operate direct, nonstop flights to international destinations, you can connect in one of the larger hubs it does service, including Salt Lake City, Denver and Portland. If you don't live near Boise, take heart. There are more than a dozen regional airports serviced by SkyWest and smaller commuter connections that fly to neighboring airports.
  
  

Salt Lake City, Utah

• Salt Lake City International Airport, located five miles northwest of downtown Salt Lake City, Utah is Delta's third largest hub. In fact, Delta Airlines and SkyWest, the regional commuter airline, share Terminal Two; all other share Terminal One. The airport provides scheduled direct, nonstop international service to the United Kingdom, Europe and Mexico, and connects in other cities for global service beyond. In 2008, 20.7 million passengers used Salt Lake City Airport.
  
  

Denver

• Denver International Airport, a half-hour's drive from Denver, Colorado, also operates six runways and is one the largest airports in the world. More than 50 million passengers fly through Denver to more than 100 destinations. If you're flying internationally from Denver, many carriers provide direct, nonstop international service or connect worldwide. Denver's Jeppesen Terminal is the starting point for all international passenger ticketing check-in, baggage check-in and security screening. From Jeppesen, passengers who are checked-in, proceed via tram to Terminal A, where much of the international traffic takes place.
  
  

Spokane, Washington

• Spokane International Airport, just outside the City of Spokane is just one hour east of C'oeur D'Alene, Idaho. As Washington State's second largest airport, seven commercial airlines including Alaska Air operate from the airport. The airport primarily services the Pacific Northwest, Los Angeles, Salt Lake City, Denver and Phoenix. While it does provide international service, travelers must connect in larger hubs for global destinations.
  
  

Portland

• Oregon's Portland International Airport has three runways and services more than 14 million passengers annually. While the airport is the hub for Alaska and Horizon Airlines, it does offer international service on a number of major commercial airlines. Passengers traveling internationally can choose from direct, nonstop service or can connect to all points of the globe through Portland.
