How to Play a Halloween Fortune Teller Game
- 1). Sit in a circle with the fortune telling board in the middle of the circle. Make sure everyone can reach the planchette (the movable indicator with a window). To set the mood of the room, and make it more spooky for Halloween, turn the lights down low.
- 2). Have everyone participating place the tips of their fingers on the edges of the planchette. Be sure to touch it very lightly or else you risk pushing or pulling the planchette in a way it does not wish to move. If you have a lot of people playing, you will want each person to only place the fingertips of one hand on the edge of the planchette.
- 3). Ask a question. This question can be a "Yes" or "No" question, or it can be one that requires spelling. Since many people believe this fortune telling game is a gateway to talk to the dead, they will start by asking if the spirit is there. Once you get a "Yes" from the board, you can go about asking any questions you wish.
- 4). Continue asking questions until the board stops responding. When the board stops responding, it is customary to flip the board over, then put it upright again. The thought behind this is that it cleanses the board from the previous "spirit" and makes it ready for the next one to come in to talk and tell fortunes.
