Initial Installation

• Once a refrigerator is installed, it can take up to 24 hours after it is connected to the power and water supply for a full batch of ice to be created. It is best practice to discard the first few batches of ice to allow debris to flush through the water lines and filtration system. Empty the bin each time it finishes filling to allow the next batch to be produced.
  
  

Flush the Filter

• Flushing the water filter can help remove debris and particles from the new filter much faster, helping the ice cubes taste and smell better faster. Set a large container against the water dispenser and dispense water continuously for two to three minutes. This forces water through the system and helps push material through the filter. Discard the water after flushing.
  
  

Clean the Bin

• One action that can help ice cubes taste and smell better after a new refrigerator is installed is to clean the ice bin. Empty out the ice and wash the bin with warm, soapy water. Scrub well with a cleaning cloth and then rinse thoroughly. Dry the bin with a towel and then reinstall it into the freezer compartment. This will help remove any residue on the ice bin that may be left over from the factory.
  
  

Freezer Compartment

• Another factor that can change how ice tastes or smells after a new refrigerator is installed is if the freezer compartment still has that new, factory smell. Create a cleaning mixture of baking soda and water and use it with a damp, clean cloth to wipe down the interior of the freezer to help remove any odor.
