Have you ever asked yourself, why do these silly ads keep popping up all over the place? The short answer to that question is, because that's what they are designed to do.
I know, you are probably saying that certainly doesn't make it any less annoying.
I could not agree with you more.
I think most who use a computer have at some time been simply frustrated by the ads popping up.
I won't bore you with explaining the technical aspects of how the pop up ads work.
Suffice it to say that it is a constant battle trying to combat them.
The software engineers and designers often attempt to make the ads appear with little or no effort required by the computer user.
It is reasonable to say that the adware companies would prefer it to be as much an involuntary process as possible.
That is very evident by seeing the ads pop up when the cursor is simply moved across some web pages from one position to another.
When most people access the internet, they are usually doing it for two basic reasons.
Those reasons are either for associated email activities, or in search of information or specific products.
Some of us don't have the luxury of casual computer use.
There are those of us who use the internet and our computers a lot professionally.
We would probably desire to have this experience without the ads involuntarily popping up.
If I'm on the web looking for something, I want to find it as quickly as possible.
In other words, I'd like to choose to control the experience I have when I'm on the internet.
I do not want someone else controlling the experience for me.
Are there measures that can be taken to either control or eliminate the ads from popping up in the first place? There are some things that can be done and are very effective in reducing, and in some cases eliminating the nuisance of the ad popping up.
It is a constant battle.
The software developers are perpetually attempting to develop new software and ways to use pop up ads.
I choose to use several things to control and eliminate not only the pop up ads, but for me to control as much as possible what information comes in to my computer and what information leaves my computer.
1) I'm very diligent about downloads of any type.
If I don't absolutely need it, I don't download it.
You would probably be amazed at what is embedded in especially the free download software.
It is not my intention to suggest that all free downloads are inferior software.
That simply is not the case.
2) I have purchased, installed, and I keep updated good firewall, anti virus, anti adware / spyware and pop up software.
It is critical to the confidentiality and safety of all data housed on your computer, if you desire to keep your computer running as safely and efficiently as possible.
It might seem like a lot to do, but I can assure if you have never done what is suggested above, you are living on borrowed time.
It will be just a matter of time before your system will function extremely slowly or shut down.
It is much easier, less expensive (and a lot less headaches and frustrations) to take the time to install good protective software and keep it updated.
If you have read this and are choosing not to take precautionary measures to keep information on your computer safe and your computer running efficiently, you will not have the excuse of saying you were never informed that you should do these things.
We are in a worldwide electronic information age.
It is incumbent upon you do to what is necessary to secure and protect the data that is stored on your computer.
There are those who are just waiting for an opportunity to gain access to your computer, which can ultimately make your life very miserable.
Do some very basic and simple things to have a more pleasant internet and computer experience.
Learn how to protect your computer from undesirable entry and attacks.
Data that is on your computer is valuable, and you are not the only one who knows it.
