How to Convert .AVI to .MP4 for an iPod
- 1). Download and install Red Kawa's iPod Video Converter (see Resources section below). There is one version available for iPods, but be careful not to download the wrong one.
- 2). Open the program. When asked what kind of iPod you have, select the proper type from the list and click "OK." There are pictures with the choices to make identification easier.
- 3). Select "Convert Video File" and you will be prompted to select the video file.
- 4). Select the AVI that you want to convert and click "Next." Chose where you want the file saved to, and what it should be named.
- 5). Tweak the settings to either bring up the quality, which makes the file bigger, or bring down the quality. Bringing the quality down will significantly drop the size of the file, but because the device's screen is so small, it is recommended.
- 6). Click "Convert" to start the conversion process. Once it is done, you can add the MP4 file to iTunes and sync it with your iPod.
