Bicycle Safety Reminders Before Practicing How to Ride a Bicycle

Learning how to ride a bicycle can be both fun and thrilling. But, it can also involve some risks. This is why you should keep in mind and apply bicycle safety reminders before you go and practice riding a bicycle. 

1. You must look fot a safe and secured area to practice. FInd a spot where traffic is not heavy. It is best to go and practice riding in a spot where there are no people lingering or moving around. This way, you can prevent bumping or colliding into them considering that you are just starting to learn how to ride a bicycle. Pick a place that is even and wide. An even concrete surface will allow you to bike a lot easier. However, should you fall which is unavoidable, it can surely be an ugly and underisable one. If you are worring about falling too hard on the cemented surface, an even spot with short grass and hard ground are perfect. But, you will be required to ecert more effort pedaling and balancing in these surface conditions. Also, do not practice on the sidewalks, it is illegal since it is extremely dangerous.

2. Keep in mind that safety always comes first. A bike with a low seat or saddle and pedals is great for beginners. This type of bike is specially designed to let you get your feet back to the ground a lot faster and easier whenever you need to. Hopefully, these bike features will reduce the risk of falling. 

3. Check each partys of your bike before going off to practice. Check your tires for any signs of flat tires. Make sure they have the right air pressure. Check your brakes as well. They must be effecient in stopping your bike.   

4. Wear appropriate clothing. Avoid wearing shorts. If possible, wear long, tight fitted pants to spare your kness from scratches and bruises. Do not wear baggy or loose clothing since they may be caught in the moving parts of your bike. Wear a pair of shoes that is rubber and close-toed. Slippers and leather shoes are a no-no because they are not appropriate and safe. Such type of shoes ca prevent you from totally stopping your bicycle if you need to do so by not using hand brakes. It is also important to wear a helmet, knee pads and elbow pads.       

5. Learn how to brake. For a bicyclce with no handbrakes, test which controls the rear and the front tire. To inspect, lift the rear part of your bicycle and manually spin your tire and press on your brake. Do this same step with the front part of your bicycle.   

6. Some bicycles are not recommended for first-time bicyclists since some bike features may  be unsuitable or tougher for them to maneuver and operate. Make sure you ride a bicycle which is designed for your body's weight and size. You can ride a custom built bicycle to guarantee safety, comfort, and smoother ride.
