    • 1). Open the dishwasher and check that all the pots, pans, plates and cutlery are still within their holders or drawers; items can slip between gaps and block the spinning jets on the underside of each drawer. Gently spin the spray arms, making sure they can complete a full revolution without striking anything.

    • 2). Re-enter your cleaning instructions, selecting a heavier soil option such as "Soak and Scour" or "Hi-Temp Wash." The "Rinse" or "Glass Xpress" cycles might not be thorough enough to clean heavily soiled crockery. Let your dishes go through a second time with a stronger cycle.

    • 3). Run the hot tap on the sink nearest the dishwasher; the water should run hot after a few seconds. Your boiler might be low on hot water if the flow remains cold. Ideally, hot water running to the dishwasher should be around 120 degrees Fahrenheit (49 Celsius). Cleaning may be affected if the water is too cold.

    • 4). Be sure to add at least a tablespoon or 15 grams of fresh detergent for each wash cycle, more if the appliance is full. A lack of cleaning soap inhibits the appliance's cleaning ability. Add extra detergent if you live in a hard water area. Always use dishwasher detergent; other soaps may not provide adequate cleaning.

    • 5). Have a plumber check your water pressure; it must be between 20 and 120 psi or 138 to 828 kPa for the appliance to work correctly and achieve good cleaning results. Slow-running water in your sink, shower or bath is a sign of low water pressure.
