The use of VGA adapter is a must for those who are handling VGA output files (which stand for Video Graphics Array) on a regular basis. This technology has become somewhat of a legacy wherein most modern video cards used today are based on. In fact, all video cards that went on production in the past 20 years or so have utilized the standard VGA output technology that is equipped with a display resolution of 640 x 480. However, newer video cards have introduced higher resolutions to improve the quality of the video output. The use of a VGA adapter is a must for these files and ensures that it can handle any type of files, no matter what the resolution setting is.

But before you look much further into the technology behind a VGA adapter, it is important to study a bit of history on this technology. Video Graphics Array or VGA first came out in the industry when it was released by IBM on 1987 as part of the PS/2 line of computers under the brand. The standard resolution for VGA output can display a maximum of 16 different colors simultaneously, while half resolution is able to display up to 256 colors. VGA also earned recognition for being the first graphics array that was directly integrated into the motherboard. Hence, it wasn't long until VGA adapter was introduced to keep up with this growing technology.

VGA adapter also became highly in demand with the innovation of using this technology as the standard display mode in the BIOS system for most modern computers. Hence, it remained to be a huge part of the electronics industry despite the fact that its day to day use is slowly but surely becoming obsolete. BIOS stand for Basic Input Output System, which is used on the computer as a low-level system environment that enables it to boot up and easily load its operating system. Since the introduction of VGA as the main technology behind modern video cards, it is now used to function like a VGA adapter for this exact same reason.

There is also a number of applications and uses for VGA adapter because it does not only refer to the ancient video card that was introduced two decades ago and the display mode used on computers. A VGA adapter can also be used as a main element in providing description for the display resolution capabilities of an electronic product. In fact, most of the smartphones released today offer HVGA capabilities, which could mean 320 x 480 in resolution. Meanwhile, QVGA represents a standard resolution of 320 x 240, and WVGA is equal to 800 x 480 resolution. Do take note, however, that the display resolution capabilities provided here differ from the original spec provided for VGA output since it offers a wider range of colors.

The use of VGA adapter has indeed represented modern technology with a lot of applications today. But as technology continues to evolve, one can expect more to come out in the near future.
