How to Make a Fabric Shoe
- 1). Trace a shoe on the felt. Cut it out. Use the shape as a stencil to cut out three additional "soles." Trace the heel of the shoe onto another sheet of felt. Cut it out and use it as a stencil to cut out another heel.
- 2). Lay a felt sole on top of a new felt sheet. Trace around the sole in the shape of a "U." Do not draw the back of the heel. Remove the sole. Draw a smaller "U" inside the larger one -- the width should be about 1.5 to 2 inches thick. Draw a line to join the ends. You should have a felt horseshoe. Cut it out. Use it as a stencil to cut out an identical horseshoe.
- 3). Hold a pair of felt soles together and sew along the border. When you have about 1 inch left to sew, stuff the sole with a thin layer of batting. Spread it evenly. Sew the hole closed. Repeat this process with the other felt pair.
- 4). Glue the felt heel to the bottom of each felt sole. Press firmly for a few seconds. Another option is to directly sew the heel onto the fabric.
- 5). Flip the felt sole over to the top side. Line the fabric horseshoe on top and sew the edges together. Repeat this step with the other sole.
- 6). Make the straps. Cut two strips of felt to the width of your shoe. Lay a strip across the shoe and sew both ends to the fabric. Glue a button on one end. Repeat this process with the other shoe.
