How to Replace a Dirt Bike Muffler
- 1). Take off the dirt-bike seat using the appropriate sized socket to remove the two bolts that hold it in place.
- 2). For ease of access to the muffler, take off the right-side number plate using the appropriate sized socket. There are two bolts to remove.
- 3). Loosen the bolt that attaches the muffler pipe to the dirt-bike frame.
- 4). Tug firmly on the muffler to pull off the pipe. It connects to the exhaust pipe simply by slipping on.
- 1). It is sometimes necessary to replace the headpipe-to-muffler seal that fits between the muffler pipe and exhaust system pipe. Fit the replacement muffler and seal firmly into place.
- 2). Tighten the bolt that attaches the muffler pipe to the frame. This is the muffler clamp, and it also holds the seal in place.
- 3). For ease of access to the muffler, take off the right-side number plate. There are two bolts to remove.
- 4). Reattach the right-side number plate with its two bolts.
- 5). Reattach the seat by with its two bolts.
