How to Grind Dance

Grind dancing is a useful type of dance common in the 21st century. Most people who go to clubs and go on the dance floor know the basics of how to grind dance. The problem is that there are many that don't know how to grind dance or they look like a fool dancing and dirty dancing.

Here are a few basic tips on how to grind dance and dirty dance for beginners.

1. It's all in the hips
With most dancing, the hips are what the makes the body moves. It is what makes dancing so sexy. It is what keeps the body in rhythm with the music. If one can move their hips to the beat either in a side to side or circular motion then they would improve their grind dancing skills beyond the basic club goer and dancer.
2. Smile and have fun
It surprises me how many people go to school dances and parties or the club and don't even enjoy their moment at the event. The whole reason we dance is to move and enjoy ourselves. If you can't enjoy dancing by yourself, don't expect your dance partner to enjoy grinding up on you. So smile and enjoy dancing no matter how "bad" you may think you are. Everyone is in self-conscious anyways but as long as you have fun and smile people will latch on to that and want to dirty dance and grind dance with you.
3. Bob your Head
Once moving your hips to the beat with a smile on your face the next step is your head. Your head will natural bob to the music because of your hips are moving back and forth. Try moving your head like a bobble head up and down, even side to side. Make sure it doesn't look too exaggerated.
4. Shoulders and Arms
Swaying your shoulders side to side is the final upper body movement in grind dancing as well with your arms. It will all come naturally so don't be afraid to experiment. Try snapping your fingers to the beat.
5. Feet and knees.
Your feet do not have to move when you grind dance or dirty dance. If you're dancing by yourself then you can do the basic side step. That move is when you move your feet from side to side as you dance. Keeping your feet solid on the dance floor and about shoulder width apart will do just fine. Even if you grinding up on your partner keeping the feet grounded is the safest bet.
The knees have to bend when you sway your hips side to side or in a circular motion. Try experimenting with how low you go and how much you bend your knees. You will find a sweet spot when dancing.
6. Practice, practice, practice in front of a mirror
There is one thing to practice but practicing in front of a mirror is one of the top tools for a dancer. Look into every dance studio you will find all the walls surrounded by mirrors. This is to check your form and see how good you look while you dance. Practice in front of a full body mirror or regular mirror as you blast some music. Don't be afraid if you do not have a dance partner.
