How to Build Your Own Cat Box
- 1). Line up one of your 5-by-12-inch boards to your 5-by-18-inch board at a 90-degree angle so the shorter board meets the longer board on the inside edge of the longer board.
- 2). Hammer a nail 1 inch down from the top of the 5-by-12-inch board horizontally so that it penetrates the 5-by-18-inch board.
- 3). Hammer a second nail 1 inch up from the bottom of the 5-by-12-inch board horizontally into the 5-by-18-inch board.
- 4). Line up and hammer together the other two 5-inch wide boards in the same fashion as in steps 2 through 4.
- 5). Push together the the two L-shaped corners you have made to form a rectangle.
- 6). Nail in the last two corners with two nails each as you have done for the previous corners.
- 7). Paint wood glue to the bottom side of the rectangular box and firmly align and set on the 12-by-18-inch board. Let stand and dry. Rinse out your brush thoroughly with water.
- 8). Sand the entire wooded box with sandpaper.
- 9). Apply the wood sealant all over the wooden box. Do the sides and insides first, let dry and then seal the bottom.
