How to Reformat a Fifth Generation iPod
- 1). Connect the fifth generation iPod to a computer using any standard iPod cord.
- 2). Open iTunes.
- 3). Click the name of the fifth generation iPod underneath the "Devices" category that is on the left side of iTunes.
- 4). Click the "Summary" tab at the top of the middle iTunes window.
- 5). Click the "Restore" button located in the middle of iTunes. A window will open. Click "Restore" in this open window. Four options will appear in the window.
- 6). Select a restore option for the fifth generation iPod. The option that you choose for the iPod will be based on your preference (such as if you wish to restore the iPod with the software updates installed on the device). Click "Restore" after you've made your choice.
- 7). Disconnect the fifth generation iPod from the computer only after a message has appeared in iTunes telling you it is safe to do so.
