How to Make Money in An Hour With Your Art
I have been an artist for a number of years, actually - all of my life.
Well, at least from the time I could pick up a crayon and realized I could make pretty pictures with it, that it wasn't just a teething aide.
When I got old enough I took art classes in grade school up through to college.
I met other artists with all kinds of styles of creating.
There was a great deal of talent, but I realized something.
Not one artist was able to make an adequate living selling their artwork.
We artists are often struggling to earn what we deserve for our creative work.
The fact is, while many people are in awe of us artsy types, they rarely show us their gratitude with a purchase.
I thought about that for some time.
Finally, a little light went on in my head and I realized that there are LOTS of people out there - somewhere - who love art and who DO want to buy it from us.
Since artists in general - I will venture to say based on fellow artists I know (myself included) - are not great at marketing themselves, it's just a question of finding the right place to be seen by the public.
This means of course finding the right niche.
So, I did a little searching around on the good ole internet to find out if, say, I could find out how to make money in an hour with my artwork.
I came up with the whole "hour thing" because I know I can produce smaller art pieces in under an hour.
Now I know, 60 minutes is brief when you are in the middle of a masterpiece.
But what about the quick sketches you do here and there? You know, the little doodles and cartoons you idly draw out when talking on the phone, or the quick sketch you do on a letter or card to a friend? These types of drawings are easy ways to make money for kids who are artistic even! If you are a starving student you could make money in college doing your artwork.
I mean, if you have to get a job in college to help pay your way, if your artistic, wouldn't you rather make money drawing as opposed to some boring uncreative job? Selling your art would be like making money without a job for Heaven's sake, right? I surprisingly found a number of opportunities for us artsy folk involving those simpler types of drawings.
There are places on-line where an artist can meet up with a buyer.
That means there is a real possibility that you can make money with artwork - provided you search the web until you find the spot that works for you.
That means it is something you are comfortable drawing and that it is, of course, fun for you to do.
In the meantime keep creating those masterpieces while the income you are making doing the "simpler stuff" keeps you from struggling financially.
