How to Get Additional Loans for School
- 1). Contact your financial aid office and ask if they have any school-based loans for which you can put in an application. School-based loans are normally smaller loans meant to cover expenses in an emergency situation.
- 2). Apply for a private loan through one of the many student loan providers. You can request information from the financial aid office at your school. These loans are based on the your credit or that of your cosigners and have higher interest rates than government-backed loans.
- 3). Apply for a personal loan at your bank. These loans are harder to obtain because you must prove that you can afford to pay them back immediately. There is no forbearance or grace period on most personal loans. These should be looked at as a final option.
