Solar Power - 3 Reasons Why You Will Never Use It

103 120
Ok kids, it's time to wake up and smell the fossil fuel.
Whether or not you believe in "global warming" is really irrelevant.
There are at least 2 solid facts about our current energy problems here in the U.
S.
Fact #1 - It is not getting any cheaper.
And it never will.
End of Story.
Fact #2 - We will run out of oil and coal and natural gas..
..
Someday.
Maybe not tomorrow, Maybe not in 20,000 tomorrows but someday it will be gone.
That's why they call it non-renewable.
The point of the matter is that we have been lead to believe that these sources are the cheapest and easiest we have available.
I disagree.
If you turn on the news right now chances are you will see a story about someone (most likely us Americans) fighting someone for oil.
Literally killing for the stuff.
How cheap is that? Now I am not condoning mass destruction but if Fossil Fuels were the only way to power our homes and provide us with heat, I wouldn't mind fighting for it.
I like my AC and my Internet and my Cable T.
V.
But the fact is that these fuels are NOT the only way.
Never have been.
The real problem of alternative fuels is not that they are expensive or difficult to harness.
It's that it's really hard to charge people for sunlight and wind.
Oil companies charge you every time you turn on the lights or start your car or buy milk or watch TV.
Everything you do is connected to Fossil Fuel.
And I mean everything.
Every product you buy, every service you use, every move you make has made or is making money for the oil and gas industry.
So why don't you use alternative energy like Solar and Wind? 1.
You Are Lazy - It's easier to just do nothing than to give up a weekend and actually build your own alternative power system.
2.
You Like Throwing Money Away - The sun does not charge for it's energy.
The electric company does.
DIY Solar and Wind systems are much more affordable than you may have been led to believe.
3.
You can't follow simple instruction - If this really is the case then I guess you are out of luck.
Unless you have a 16 year old in the house, I bet they could figure it out.
Or the Bonus 4th reason - You Don't Know How.
I can help you with this, but more on that later.
These days it's pretty easy and relatively inexpensive to build your own solar panels.
They can be made from materials you get at your local hardware store and can be surprisingly powerful.
Now I am not suggesting that you are going to run out tomorrow and throw up a 1000 watt Solar System to power your whole house.
But what if you could power just a few appliances and cut you electric bill by a third or even half.
Would that change you mind? I wonder.
