The area has a variety of colleges to meet a diverse group of student needs. - Hampton University College of Virginia Beach is a satellite campus of Hampton University, a private historically black college in Hampton. The school, which opened in September 2003, offers a Bachelor of Science in three programs--an accelerated nursing program, in Hotel and Restaurant Management and in Public Safety Administration. It also has a registered nurse (RN) to a B.S. program and a licensed practical nurse (LPN) to B.S. program. Students can also get a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership and certificates in Elementary Education, Special Education Learning and Behavior Disorders, Special Education Serious Emotional Disorders and in the Food Service Manager program.

The two-year school has four campuses in Virginia Beach and nearby Chesapeake, Norfolk and Portsmouth. TCC also has an Advanced Technology Center, a Visual Arts Center and offers courses at a dozen area military bases. The 40,000 students who take classes each year are bound to find something they like with 150 degree and certificate programs available.

The small school allows for an 11 to one student to faculty ratio. Small doesn't mean that students don't have choices.
