Road trips are fun and going at a moments notice adds to the excitement.
However, if your car is not in good running condition, your road trip could fast become a nightmare.
Here are some quick and easy things you should go over on your car before you head out.

1. Do a walk-a-round.
   Just like you do when you're buying, walk around your car and check for any thing that is not quit right (i.
   e.
   low tires, chipped windshield, rusted muffler, etc.
   )
2. Clean It out.
   Nothing is more annoying on a trip than a car full of trash.
   Take 5 minutes and empty out any old newspapers, cups, mail, etc.

   spray a little air freshener to make the car worth getting into.
   )
3. Check under the hood.
   Okay, you're no auto mechanic but you can look for loose wires, low fluids or anything that just doesn't look right.
   
4. Check tire pressure.
   Get an inexpensive tire gauge and check your tires.
   The required amount will be on your tires or also on the inside of the drivers door.
   Correct tire pressure can save you money.
   
5. Fill up.
   This is a no brainer, but, top your tank off and make sure you have money to buy gas down the road.
   
6. Take your car to a mechanic.
   If you have time, have a pre-trip inspection done by a mechanic.
   Unexpected repairs or problems can be avoided if a mechanic checks things out before the trip.
   
7. Get updated maps.
   Getting lost is no fun, so go buy a map or two and put them in the car.
   Since I'm a male and won't ask for directions, this will help keep you on track.
