Now That" s Strange: Unique Homes
Many of us oftentimes come across strange things, but not all of us have to live with them day in and day out. I am referring here to the strange houses of the world. Just when you think you have seen it all, something new comes along to take you by surprise. Many people say that they can live just about anywhere as long as there is a roof over their heads. Well let us try a few of these houses on for size!
How about living in an upside down house? The story goes that it took 114 days to build this house and it was not because of a shortage of labor. In fact, it was because the people constructing it were so confused and disorientated from the wall being at such strange angles. If you want to see this strange wonder then you will need to visit Szymbark village in Northern Poland. It was built in 2007, and thus it is not an old home, just a strange modern construction.
What makes or motivates an individual to be unique in their approach to living conditions? Some people would say that when it comes to the houses we are talking about here, the owners are just plain crazy. Have we become so conditioned as to what is normal that we have put aside looking at creativity as a part of our intellect? Maybe so, but then that is up to the individual to decide. For example, the house that is known as the Airplane house in Aubja, Nigeria makes for great conversation. A gentleman by the name of Said Jammal, loved and wanted to display his love for his wife. Being aware of her love of travel, he had their family home constructed in the shape of an airplane. Actually the shape rests upon the roof of the house. This is a must see to really believe creation.
Now while some people relish eating different kinds of fruit, others discuss the symbolic meaning a fruit may be noted to possess. For example, the pineapple has been seen as a symbol of exoticism. In fact, the IV Earl of Dunmore was so enthralled with the pineapple that he had an addition put on his home as an extension for his garden in the perfect shape of a pineapple. This wonderful site is in Dunmore Park, Scotland.
Everybody enjoys a vacation, and one favored spot is by the seashore.
Collecting seashells is a wonderful pastime for many people; in fact, there are people who possess vast seashell collections. But, if you are really intrigued with these little masterpieces, you will just have to visit the house at Isla Mujeres, Mexico; a home totally constructed out of seashells. And if you do find this an especially captivating place, you will be in luck to discover that the Shell House has been converted into an esoteric vacation rental.
