  Bowed, or warped wood, is often difficult to cut, as the density of the wood has changed and the shape has curved, which will cause a saw to buckle and have difficulty cutting through it. There are a number of different tools, which are more heavy duty and are either meant for cutting bowed wood or are strong enough to do so.
  
  

Power Saw

• Power saws come in many different models, but most are powerful enough to effectively cut through most types of bowed wood. Some handheld power saws are portable and can be used on large pieces of warped wood, allowing you to go at it from any angle. However, warped wood can cause a saw blade to kick back at you sometimes, causing the saw to jump and create a dangerous situation. For this reason, the power saw should be held tightly with both hands on the respective handles. Other power saws are installed in stands, so the saw is secured within a larger machine and it can't jump on you while you are cutting the warped wood. With these saws, pieces of warped wood should simply be guided over the saw to be cut. However, this also means the wood needs to be brought to the saw.
  
  

Portable Planner

• A Planner cuts a layer of the surface of a piece of wood, giving it an entirely new face. With warped pieces of wood, the surface can be removed by a planner, getting down to the area of wood which has not been effected by the warping. This may take a few times through the planner and if the wood is incredibly warped then it may not fix the problem. But this tool will cut slightly bowed wood down enough to be as good as new, or at least smooth it out enough to be used in a wooden project you are constructing.
  
  

Jointer

• Jointers are more expensive tools as these tools will take incredibly warped pieces of wood and cut them into usable pieces for a construction project. Most jointers have heavy cutting heads and incredibly sharp blades which will cut through just about any piece of warped wood, no matter how heavy it is or how warped it may be. It can also make minor cuts within the surface if a piece of wood, so it becomes more of a multi-purpose wood cutting tool.
