How to Shrink a Paracord
- 1). Roll out the paracord to the length you wish to use, plus an additional 12 percent of the length to account for shrinkage. To arrive at the length you need to cut before shrinking, multiply the amount you wish to use by 1.12 and measure to that figure. Cut the paracord using scissors or a utility knife.
- 2). Fill a cup, bowl or bucket with hot water. Submerge the paracord in the hot water for five minutes.
- 3). Remove the paracord and wring it to remove excess moisture.
- 4). Dry the paracord in a clothes dryer or lay it on a towel to air dry.
- 5). Measure the paracord length once it is completely dry. Cut the paracord to the needed length.
