    • 1). Smooth the fabric for the pillow front on a firm, flat surface. Cut one piece of fabric to the finished pillow size, plus 1 inch in width and length.

    • 2). Smooth the fabric for the pillow back on a firm, flat surface. Cut two pieces of fabric the same width as the front by the length measurement of the front, plus 5 inches.

    • 3). Fold the back pieces in half crosswise, wrong sides together, and press a crease along the fold.

    • 4). Lay the pillow front right side up on a firm, flat surface. Place one of the folded back pieces atop the pillow front with the cut edges matching one side and the top and bottom. Layer on the other folded back piece with the cut edges matching the other side and the top and bottom.

    • 5). Pin the back pieces to the front around the perimeter of the pillow. Note that the back pieces will overlap in the center of the pillow.

    • 6). Sew completely around the perimeter of the pillow cover with a 1/2-inch seam. Overlap the beginning of your stitch line by 2 inches to secure the seam. Zigzag close to the edge around the perimeter of the pillow cover to keep the fabric from fraying.

    • 7). Cut diagonally across each corner to remove excess bulk in the seam allowance. Be careful not to cut too close to the stitches.

    • 8). Turn the pillow cover right side out through the opening in the back. Poke your fingertip into each corner to push them out neat and square.

    • 9). Insert the pillow form into the cover through the opening in the back. Reach inside and smooth the form into place to fill out the corners.
