If it does not function well, or if it shows signs of wear that affects its performance, you will know that it is time to replace it. Unfortunately, when it comes to your mattress, it can be hard to determine when you need to buy a new one. Your old, saggy mattress may still feel comfortable even when it has lost its ability to provide your body with the proper support and comfort it requires.

An old mattress that fails to provide proper support and comfort can affect your sleep. You might end up tossing and turning throughout the night, or wake up with pains and aches. Since sleep is very important so that you will be able to perform well, you need to get adequate sleep every single night. Here are some tips on how you can recognize that you need to replace your old mattress.



  1. You wake up tired and sore: If you find yourself constantly feeling tired even when you had ample of sleep, or if you wake up with aches and pains, these might be signs that your mattress is now unable to provide you with enough support.; thus affecting your sleep. If you do not wake up feeling well-rested and refreshed, it is time to buy a new mattress.



  2. Your mattress looks old and worn: It is important to take some time to look into your mattress and look for any signs of wear. You might find some tears, and realize that some parts are saggy. Additionally, you might also observe that the box spring creaks and squeaks.



  3. Your bed is uncomfortable: You have to observe the performance, comfort, and support that your mattress provides. For instance, does it sag in some places, or leave an impression where you sleep? If you are unable to find a comfortable position when sleeping, it is time to consider buying a new mattress.

Mattresses do not last forever. Depending on the frequency of use and the quality with which the mattress was made, a mattress can last for at least 5-7 years. If you have been using the same mattress for more than 10 years, it is best to replace it. Remember that your body change as the years go by, and as you grow older, your body will need better comfort and support.
