Evidence shows that hypnosis is a powerful healing art and is, indeed, one of the oldest forms of healing known to man.
Even the ancient Egyptians knew and used the power of trance as is evidenced by their recently unearthed 'sleep temples.
' As well as being a powerful healing tool the hypnotic state is also a sources of endless fascination and entertainment.
Many have become wealthy, famous, well respected and even feared by mastering the power of inducing trance states.
So just what is hypnosis and how can you put someone into a hypnotic state today and take the first step on a wonderful journey of influence and power? First off, hypnosis is a natural state that you and your subjects have already been into many times before, possibly already today in fact.
It is a state of absorbed attention that is often coupled with a complete relaxation of body and mind.
Have you ever been absorbed in a good book? Absorbed into a video game, TV program or leisure activity? How about simple daydreaming? If you ever go into a relaxed state of focused awareness then you've been into hypnosis.
Here are some of the signs that someone is in a trance: Relaxation of the muscles Deeper and slower breathing rate Reduced blink rate Eyelid flutter Increased acceptance of suggestions Now, how can you lead some into this state or, in the official hypnotic lingo, 'induce' hypnosis in someone? It's all about realizing that you cannot not communicate.
You are a communicating machine and your body, your language, your voice tone, you gestures and even your levels of eye contact will have an effect, sometimes a profound effect, on another person.
You can easily find hypnotic scripts online.
A simple Google of the terms 'hypnosis script' would suffice but the real meat and potatoes of the hypnotic technique is in the small details.
VOICE TONE: Practice speaking from your diaphragm.
Take deep breaths with your belly and try vibrating the words from this low down space.
This should give a rich, sonorous tone to your voice.
Make your voice sound relaxing and tuneful and try speaking in a slow, calm rhythm to amplify the hypnotic effect.
UTILIZATION: Talk about what you observe going on with the other person and use any external sounds or distractions as a part of the induction.
This way you don't need a sound proofed office or special location to hypnotize someone.
You can do it anywhere...
even in the middle of a motorway in rush hour if you happen to be a uniquely suicidal blockhead.
Instead of simply saying 'relax into trance' you can say 'as you hear the sound of the oncoming trucks and and the beep of traffic you can continue relaxing into a trance.
' FOCUS: Always be aware of where your clients focus is or where you are guiding it to.
Ask them to focus their attention on their breathing, on the sound of your voice or on the internal images they see or even all three at once to create a sensory overload effect that can be useful in driving people deeper into trance.
HYPNOTIC EYE STARE INDUCTION Here is a basic script for you to practice with.
Ask your client to sit down and to focus their gaze onto a spot on the wall above their eye line.
Tell them to keep gazing at that spot as you speak in a calm slow rhythm in a deep, rich voice tone.
"now as you keep your attention focused on that spot...
really allowing your attention to become absorbed...
in those little details you notice...
your becoming more relaxed...
as you notice your breathing...
the subtle energies of your body...
and as you really focus your attention on that spot on the wall...
and hear the sound of my voice...
feeling the rhythm of your breathing...
you can begin to go deeper inside...
" Their eyes should naturally be feeling heavier at this point.
We will capitalize on this.
"perhaps you can imagine that your eyelids are starting to feel very heavy...
maybe you can imagine now how good it will feel when you can allow yourself to just let them close...
and people can let this happen...
whenever it feels right to do so...
" If they still have their eyes open just keep repeating hypnotic language until they naturally close their eyes.
Then segue into: "That's right...
all the way down...
into a gentle and wonderful state of relaxation...
and sometimes all that's needed to go deeper still...
is to become aware of the fact that you can continue to drift...
deeper drifting...
into another memory...
of a time long past...
where you can simply feel how good you can feel...
because your in a relaxed state of hypnosis...
" At this point they will be in a light to medium depth trance state.
There is plenty you can do with trance but that's for another article.
