Teresa Meyer, Champion Pistol Shooter
Fast Learner:
Teresa Meyer doesn't have the same long record that many Olympic shooters have, but that's simply because she hasn't had the time. 2008 has been slated as her first Olympic competition, and it appears that she has a good foundation upon which to build.
She started shooting at age 10, and by 14 she was shooting competitively. She started winning in 2005 at the National Championships, where she placed first in Junior Women’s Sport Pistol and third in Women’s Sport Pistol.
On the 2008 USA Shooting team, her events were listed as Sport Pistol and Air Pistol.
When She's Not Breaking Records:
A 2008 college senior, Teresa's chosen school was Ohio State University. Sources indicate that she enjoys hunting, reading, watching movies, and Bible study when she's not setting records at the pistol range. She has also volunteered at the Ohio Wheelchair Games.
Teresa's Shooting Record:
As of 2008, Teresa held an impressive 28 National Indoor Junior Conventional Pistol records, and had won first place at the 2005 National Championships, the 2006 Collegiate Championships, and the 2007 Collegiate Championships.
Teresa may be a rising star in competitive shooting, and in view of past impressive Olympic performances by young shooters, 22-year-old Teresa may have truly shined in Beijing. Alas, she didn't qualify in the finals and a trip to China.
