How to Get Into Graduate School With a Bachelor of Art in Applied Science
- 1). Research the requirements for acceptance into the school. Each school will have a different set of requirements, from the minimum Graduate Requirement Exam score to the number of recommendation letters you may need. Ensure to note the deadline for applying to each school and the costs of tuition, as each school will vary.
- 2). Take the GRE. Almost all schools for applied science will require that you take the GRE and meet a minimum score to qualify for applying. Purchase a GRE practice booklet to help you prepare for the exam, noting the type of questions and duration for each portion of the exam. Remember, you should take your GRE at least six months before applying to graduate school, as you will receive your scores six to eight weeks after taking the exam.
- 3). Ask your professors or employer for a letter of recommendation. Graduate programs will ask that you provide three or more letters of recommendation that speak of your personal character and academic achievements within applied sciences. Ensure that the person writing the letter has enough time to complete the letter.
- 4). Draft a personal statement. All graduate programs will require a personal statement regarding your academic achievements, setbacks and triumphs. Create a general draft, as each school will require that you answer specific questions about yourself that may include personal struggles, why you are considering studying at this particular school and what you feel the program will provide for you.
- 5). Apply to the program. Include all the required information, including GRE scores, personal statement and letters of recommendation. Note that your GRE scores, GPA and academic achievements will provide an indicator as to how well you will fare in getting accepted for admission. Not all programs you apply to may accept you, so it is best to apply to multiple schools to increase your chances of getting into a program.
