How to Output PDF Files to Film
- 1). Open a video editing package such as Adobe Premiere or Vegas Studio Pro. Go to the "File" menu and choose the import option. Browse to the location of the PDF file and select the file to see if it will import into the program.
- 2). Convert the file to another type if you can not get the PDF option to work. Use a PDF conversion program, and save the PDF file as a standard image file such as .gif or .jpg. Import the new file into the video editing program.
- 3). Copy the image of the PDF or its converted file into the video editor's timeline. Make any changes to the video.
- 4). Export the video to a DVD creation program or as a portable video file type. Burn the video file to DVD.
- 1). Print your PDF file directly on actual film if that is your goal. Submit your file to a professional printer who will make plates and output the file directly to film. Each printer may have separate specifications. Contact them directly for prices and specifications.
- 2). Make your PDF file a color separated PDF file with outlined fonts and embedded images. To convert your PDF to a color separated PDF, open the files in something like Adobe Illustrator or InDesign.
- 3). Make the colors PMS or SPOT. Go to the "Print" settings, and set the file to "Postscript" and the PPD to "Adobe PDF." Set the paper size to "Custom." Make sure the scale is set to 100 percent. Set the color to "Separations."
- 4). Save the file with the new print specifications and e-mail or send over an FTP site to your printing company to print to film.
