The HTC Touch HD2 is A Touchscreen Handset with Impressive Features

Released in November 2009 the HTC Touch HD2 offers a wide range of technology as one would expect from a HTC unit. The styling is similar to some other HTC handsets but is much more refined. The range of applications and its modern aesthetics are sure to have contributed to its popularity.

Measuring 120.5x67mm and only 11mm thick, the Touch HD2 weighs in at 157g. The large 4.3" TFT capacitive touchscreen is capable of displaying up to 65,000 colours at 480x800 pixels. This is much more than a basic touchscreen however, and offers sense UI, multi-touch input method and an inbuilt accelerometer. This senses when the phone has been tilted and rotates the image on screen accordingly allowing users to view content in both portrait and landscape forms.

Users of the Touch HD2 are alerted to incoming calls and messages by vibration and ringing with the option to utilize mp3, WAV and WMA music files as ringtones. A speakerphone is built in to the handset allowing hands free communication. A 3.5mm audio jack is on the handset which can accommodate hands free kits as well as headphones for listening to music.

Internal memory is 448MB RAM and 512MB ROM. A microUSB card slot allows this to be expanded to create more storage for media files, contacts and files.

This HTC handset offers a range of connectivity features. These include class 12 versions of both GPRS and EDGE. Internet connection is via HSDPA at speeds of up to 7.2Mbps as well as HSUPA at speeds of up to 2Mbps. WiFi connection allows users to take advantage of various hotspots located around the country. Bluetooth v2.1 is installed as standard so data and files can easily be transferred between compatible Bluetooth devices.

The camera on the Touch HD2 boasts 5MP, which operates at a pixel resolution of 2592x1944 pixels. Added features on the camera are autofocus, dual LED flash and the increasingly popular Geo-tagging facility. Video can be recorded in VGA at a rate of 30 frames per second. GPS is included with A-GPS support.

The included media player supports a wide range of file formats. Supported music files are MP3, WAV, WMA and eACC+. Video files are supported in MP4, WMV, H.263 and H.264 formats. Media files can easily be transferred to and from a computer by using the phone's microUSB port. A wide range of additional features increases the functionality of the phone further. These include a digital compass, voice memo recorder and T9 predictive text input. Fans of social networking will not be disappointed with applications allowing direct access to Facebook and Twitter. Business users are sure to appreciate Pocket Office which is compatible with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote and PDF documents. Microsoft Windows Professional 6.5 is the operating system of choice, whilst a powerful QUALCOMM snapdragon QSD8250 1 GHz processor handles demanding applications.

With its seemingly endless list of applications and features, the HTC Touch HD2 is sure to appeal to a wide range of users.
