Setting Tables for a Baby Shower Tea Party
- 1). Spread tablecloths across the table. Smooth any wrinkles. Ensure the tablecloth falls evenly on each side.
- 2). Fold a small square of card stock in half so it stands up when placed on the table. Write each guest's name in calligraphy. Mark each guest's place with name cards.
- 3). Center luncheon-sized plates at each seat. Place luncheon-sized napkins to the left of each plate. Place forks on each napkin. Place knives to the right of each plate with the sharp side facing the plate. Place butter knives to the right of each knife, facing the same direction. Place the spoon to the right of the knives. Place teacups and saucers to the right of the spoons. Place the teaspoons on the saucers.
- 4). Set teapots at the center of each table. Depending on the size of the table, you may have to set two teapots on either half of each table. Make sure guests can comfortably reach a teapot.
- 5). Arrange tea fixings around the teapot. Place lemon wedges in a small bowl and set beside the teapot. Pour granulated white sugar and raw brown sugar in glass jars with teaspoons and set beside the lemon wedges. Pour half-and-half in a creamer and set beside the sugar. If your guests are sensitive to dairy products or require artificial sweeteners, include soy or almond milk and non-caloric sweetener options.
- 6). Place small bunches of flowers around the table. Group three or four daisies, tulips or other delicate flowers in a thin vase and position them at either side of the table. Avoid large bouquets, which can block guests' view and prevent them from conversing with each other. Daisies and tulips are available in pastel colors that can complement the table decor.
- 7). Place lightly scented or unscented votive candles in glass candle holders. Scatter them around the flower bouquets. Match the candle color to the flower color.
- 8). Set a tiered pastry display in the center of each table. Place bite-sized pastries and treats on each tier. Cupcakes, brownies, sandwich squares, scones, biscotti and muffins complement the tea. Match the color of the pastries to the color scheme if possible.
