Home Business Website Choices For Beginners

HOME BUSINESS WEBSITE SIZE Although some websites today are more vanity, most are there for two reasons.
One, to impart information (and get you to click on what they are selling) and the other is a direct sales pitch, (again to get you to purchase what they are offering).
Let's face it.
The internet is all about selling you "something.
When you start a home business you may decide you want a web presence to market your product or opportunity.
The next question is, how large does it have to be? It is difficult to determine which is better...
a large website with tons of pages, or a smaller, say 5 page or less site.
Your decision can be made depending on a couple of factors; the reason for the website and the results you are after.
Large websites appear daunting but can be very effective.
Be sure to find a small niche so you won't be competing with the big dogs.
A large site contains 100 pages or more, chalk full of information that keep visitors coming back for more.
AND...
It will take several months of hard work before the search engines find and give you a decent ranking.
You will continually have to include new material, update, refresh, start Blogs, link to social sites and have a steady stream of links to more content-filled pages too or you will find that your ranking falls..
These sites can take months to build.
After a certain point a good site will become almost self sustaining after months of tweaking.
It will attract new links simply because its there and your rankings become stable.
And in exchange for all of that information, your visitors will hopefully purchase your products or click on and purchase products or services from your advertiser.
If you have a niche product you personally manufacture, or one that you can get a really great wholesale price for, one with little competition and you want to market online, your website can be small.
You won't have to continually update, add or change pages.
either unless you want to introduce a new product or have a sale etc.
Once it's up, it can pretty well run by itself.
The one page website is also suited tor individuals who are introducing a home business to others who want to make money from home.
So, is bigger always better? Not always..
Owners of one page sites often pay google, yahoo, msn or other search engines a fee for each keyword they use.
It is a very effective way to get people to your site, but it is also costly.
Plan on spending $50+ a day or more in PPC (Pay Per Clicks).
