Have you ever wondered why they call certain types of coffee espresso? The word Espresso is Italian for express.
The main reason for this is because it is very quick for the coffee to be made after it is ordered.
A good tasting and sweet coffee is how you know if you have a good espresso machine or not.
In the last decade the machines have advanced so much that you now can have an espresso coffee machine in your own home.
Before the advances in the coffee machines, you had to go to a coffee shop who had to have a professional barista to make the coffee.
These days you can just buy a home size coffee machine and make all the coffee you want.
But how do you select the espresso machine that will best serve you? well the best way to do this would be to test a few machines in the shop before you choose.
But most shops won't allow you to do this, so you'll need to have a look around and ask questions about what the machines can and can't do.
You can also just window shop and look at the boxes, but the sales people should be able to answer questions for you.
The way an espresso machine works is by compressing water down a pipe at "9 bars" of pressure at a temperature of 90 degree's or 195 Fahrenheit.
This pushes the oils out of the coffee grinds and into the cup waiting at the bottom making a rich fresh coffee shot for you.
A good coffee machine running at the right pressure will create a double shot of coffee in around 20-25 seconds for you.
However the machine may be a little quick or slower based on how coarse the coffee grinds are.
On some machines, you can change the pressure, this will also change the time it takes to make the double shots of coffee.
Some of the espresso machines also include a milk wand so you can also create coffee's like flat whites and latte's.
The milk wand will heat water, and use the water to steam and froth the milk for you.
There are several different kind of espresso machines including the pump driven espresso machine, piston driven and steam espresso machines.
