The Airline Industry's Rotten Secret

As a regular air traveller, I discover myself acutely aware of baggage constraints as I loathe to hand over money on excess baggage fees.

This has the benefit of traveling lightly. Lighter traveling goes easier on the body, forces me to prepare outfits prior to leaving home and do some laundry during my journey.

Till recently my system half-worked.

In days passed I would utilize my restroom weighing scales to weigh my luggage. If it was over my baggage limit, I would move some heavier items into my backpack.

Where I ran into bother was on my return journey when attempting to remember how I had actually allocated my belongings between my cabin bag and suitcase on my outward journey. This, I rarely, if ever, solved.

The restroom scales was all well and good for my outward journey, however it wasn't especially appealing to pack and take with me for obvious reasons. I was, after all, attempting to lower my baggage weight, not contribute to it.

Hence, the restroom scales I had actually left at home was of no use to me when I was in another country, and finding one in a hotel was never a possibility.

It wasn't until I suffered the humiliation and time-wasting of redistributing my belongings in an airport, and returned home to tell a close friend of my experience that I discovered a cool little gizmo to save me the headache in future.

Mentioning my experience with a close friend, she informed me I had to purchase a luggage scale. Honestly, I wasn't aware such a thing existed. She swore by hers and talked so passionately of its advantages that I was promptly sold on the concept.

I questioned why airlines don't offer them on aircrafts. The huge provider in Europe, Ryanair, offer you everything from automobile hire, to hotels, transfers, and actual luggage when you book on their site, yet they don't offer a luggage scale. Then the penny dropped.

Why would they offer something which would prevent them the chance to overcharge their consumers for a kilo or two of overweight baggage? This would ruin their purpose of revenue maximisation.

I promptly bought my luggage scale from a company called Swiftons, who trade on Amazon. My solution to conserving time, money, and humiliation, was found!

Within a few days I got my luggage scale and was all set for my very first journey with my new gizmo.

At around $20 it was less than what I would pay for just a few pounds of excess baggage on one journey and the product came with a life time guarantee! It was a no-brainer. A life time of cost savings for just $20. Who can argue with that!

My reason for writing this article is that I believe even more people ought to understand these items exist, and more people ought to utilize them. Airlines exist to take us from Place A to Place B, whilst making the most amount of money possible at the same time. It is not in their self-interest to save our money, and a product such as a luggage scale does just that. Hence, they will never inform us about them, promote them, or offer them to us, due to the fact that luggage scales are in direct opposition to their objective of maximising earnings.

As mentioned above I bought my luggage scale from Amazon due to the fact that their shipping service I have always found to be outstanding.

The service I got from Swiftons has been great. They have sent me a free eBook to help me pack and travel more effectively, and their luggage scale is a dream to operate - easy and uncomplicated, yet with more functions than others available.

To purchase yours, visit Amazon today and search for Swiftons Luggage Scale. You won't regret it!
