Places for an Outdoor Wedding
- A beach wedding is a classic choice among many brides. This type of wedding can either be formal or elegant; however, most guests would prefer casual attire when walking along sand and sitting in hot weather. Many all-inclusive resorts offer wedding packages that reduce a lot of the time and money that goes into planning a wedding. These packages also tend to include discounted rooms to your guests by providing them with a group rate.
- Park weddings can be very beautiful. When exploring potential parks to get married in, look for an area that would be ideal for saying your vows and for taking pictures. Examples include parks with a pond, water fountain, statue, archway, gazebo, flower garden, historic building, bridge or cliff. For the reception, rent a large white tent or find a flat area of grass, stone or cement to set up tables. You will need to obtain a park permit and pay a fee; however, the fees are often quite reasonable.
- The idea of a backyard wedding may seem too informal for your liking; however, a backyard wedding can be quite elegant. If you are looking for elegance, rent a large white tent for the reception and decorate it with candles, rose petals, draped fabric and colored lighting. Alternatively, if you have a pool in your backyard or know someone who does, set up tables around the pool and hire waiters to walk around with glasses of wine and silver platters with gourmet hors d'oeuvres. For a more casual event, place tables and chairs along the grass, hang white Christmas lights in the trees and along the house, and add color with floral centerpieces. You can also rent a dance floor and place the tables around it.
- If you and your fiance love winter, then a winter wonderland wedding at a ski lodge is a good choice. Similar to beach weddings, many ski lodges offer wedding packages and group discounts for your guest's rooms. You may choose to have only your ceremony outdoors or you may want to have the reception there as well. If choosing an outdoor reception, rent a heated tent to keep your guests comfortable. Many ski lodges are very romantic with stone walls, grand fireplaces and large couches, so you may want to rent an indoor space for your guests to warm up in. If you can afford it, purchase a group ski package for your guests in lieu of wedding favors.
