Installation Instructions for an Older Model HP Motherboard
- 1). Mount the old HP motherboard in the case by aligning it with the holes in the case and screwing in tightly into position.
- 2). Insert your CPU into the socket near the top center of the HP motherboard. Lower the retaining lever to lock the CPU chip into place. Mount the heatsink according to the directions that accompany your specific model of processor.
- 3). Slide the RAM chips into the slots near the CPU socket. Press down until each chip "clicks" into place.
- 4). Insert your video, audio and network cards into the sockets on the bottom half of the old HP motherboard. Insert the video card into the topmost socket, which is the AGP socket on older motherboards. The remainder of the cards can go into any available slots left on the motherboard.
- 5). Connect the data cables from your hard and optical drives to the IDE ports (the data port for your hard and optical drives) on the motherboard, located near the rightmost edge of the motherboard. Connect the power leads to the power ports on the motherboard, located near the CPU socket on the top half of the motherboard.
