• Chinese Zodiac
  
  The zodiac is an important part of Chinese culture. One way to bring elements of Chinese interior design is to bring the legendary animals of the zodiac into the room. The animals are dog, dragon, horse, monkey, pig, ox, rabbit, rat, rooster, sheep, snake and tiger. Collect stylized images of these animals with possible gold details and arrange them as a focal piece within the room. Place them on a glossy black surface. A large tapestry with the zodiac embroidered on it can be hung on the wall. Try to follow the red, black, and gold color scheme.
  
  

Go Blue

  Another motif for Chinese interior design can be based on their blue and white porcelain jars. Tea sets, large decorated vases, ginger jars and large pots in blue and white can be added. Lay these decor items on bamboo trays. Large bamboo floor mats can be hung on the wall. Plant large bamboo plants in the pots, and surround then with polished river stones. Keep things simple and grouped together. Black-and-white panda bears can be displayed on the bamboo background.

  Beautiful, ornate furniture can be a centerpiece in Chinese interior design. Pick a piece that is black or in a shade of red with gold or mother-of-pearl inlays. Place this piece in a corner of the room. Place a Chinese screen behind the piece. Keep an eye out for a woven Chinese throw rug to put in front of the centerpiece. All other pieces of furniture need to be downplayed and simple. A low black couch can be filled with embroidered silk throw pillows. The pillows can be covered with flowers and fish. Do not get carried away with placing knickknacks everywhere. The ceiling can be hung with paper Chinese lanterns in red, yellow and green.
