How to Fix the Hose From the Pump on the Back of a Toilet
- 1). Place a towel or used rags on the floor underneath the toilet tank.
- 2). Follow the hose from the bottom of the toilet to where it connects to the water supply valve. Rotate the handle on the supply valve all the way to the right to cut the water supply.
- 3). Remove the toilet tank lid.
- 4). Press down on the handle to flush the toilet. Use a sponge to wipe up any water remaining in the tank.
- 5). Loosen and remove the supply hose from where it connects to the pump with a pair of pliers. Follow the hose to where it connects to the water supply valve. Use a wrench to loosen the coupling connecting the other end of the supply hose to the water supply valve.
- 6). Wrap the outlet on the supply valve and the inlet underneath the tank with plumber's tape.
- 7). Connect the plastic end of the new supply hose to the inlet on the tank and tighten with pliers. Connect the other end to the outlet on the water supply valve and tighten with a wrench.
- 8). Turn the handle on the water's supply valve counterclockwise. Wait until the tank fills. Press the handle to flush the tank and check the supply hose as the tank fills. Tighten the couplings on either end, if needed.
