Cheap web hosts might not be the bottom of the barrel product you may think it is.
There is no real price web hosting should be.
It is what the consumer will pay for it and the price is based on quality of service for most consumers.
Some cheap web hosts are in business to hustle and scam customers.
But some cheap hosting is cheap because the owner has done several things.
They may have streamlined their operation to cut down on overhead, limit the ceiling of profit or just want to be competitive to name but a few reasons, and they are passing the savings onto the consumer.
Before deciding a price for hosting is to cheap, check out the service offered.
Customer service is crucial for any web hosting company.
When questions or snafu's arise even the most expensive hosts are not worth the dollar they charge if the customer gets no help.
A web search will return a multitude of cheap website hosts.
Look up reviews for a few of the top listed web hosts.
If you find no reviews that may be an indication the reviews are not good.
Any reputable company will be happy to publish reviews of their product.
In the event you read a critical review here and there it does not mean the company is totally crud.
A feature may not have worked well for a particular individual.
There is nothing wrong with reporting the truth.
Not all web hosting companies are right for everyone.
One of the many considerations when choosing cheap web hosts, is the amount of space you will be allowed.
If you plan on using your web page to sell products, make sure the amount of space you get will work with the size of your store.
Graphics take up an enormous amount of space.
If you want a lot of pictures, clip art or clickable banners, make sure you have enough space allotted to your account.
A good thing to check is what happens if you go over your space allotment.
Is there an additional charge or is the overflow fall never seen again after falling into a cyber black hole.
If you are setting up a web page for an organization or for informational purposes, a small amount of web space will be fine.
If your choice of cheap web hosts offers domain name registration, check to be sure it is transferable.
You may at some point in the future decide to move the domain to a different web host.
Someone may make you an offer you cannot refuse and you decide to sell your domain or even your entire web page.
If your domain name is not transferable, the host company could sell it right from out under you if it is a hot name.
So a word to the wise should be sufficient.
Always read the fine print before choosing a web host, cheap or not.
A cheap price may come with qualifiers such as a year's payment in advance.
You may have to use their web design services at an additional cost in order to qualify for the cheap price.
