How to Prevent Clogged Ducts
- 1). Change the filter every 30 days. Changing the filter prevents dust from building in the return and spreading to other ducts in the home.
- 2). Locate the filter access panel. Remove the screws that hold the panel in place with a screwdriver or use your thumb if the panel is held with a thumb latch.
- 3). Remove and discard the old filter. Install the clean filter as shown by the arrow on the filter.
- 4). Replace the filter access panel.
- 1). Remove the receptacle cover from the ducts in each room of the home. Set the covers aside.
- 2). Attach the crevice tool to the vacuum cleaner. Turn on the vacuum cleaner.
- 3). Gently vacuum along the walls of the ducts to remove dust and debris from inside the ducts.
- 4). Wash the receptacle covers with a mild household cleaner and wash rag. Dry with a soft cloth
- 5). Reattach the receptacle covers. Turn on the air-conditioning unit.
