Plavix is a clinically proven drug with Clopidogrel as an active ingredient. This medication is useful to prevent blood from coagulating and also prevent unwanted blood clots occur due to different heart or blood vessel diseases. Moreover, it is prescribed to prevent formation of blood clots after a recent heart attack and stroke in some patients.

You should never take Plavix if you are allergic to its active or inactive ingredients.

It is essential to take this medicine with plenty of water to lower its side-effects.

This medication is formulated for oral administration only. You can take it with or without food.

In order to avail most benefit out of it, you need to take this medicine regularly. Generally, the prescribed dosage of this medicine is once daily. So, remember to take it on the same time daily.

In case, you are using this medication to prevent blood clots after a stent implant, then it advised to take it along with aspirin or as directed by your doctor.

You should never stop taking mentioned medicine without consulting with the doctor even if you feel well.

Precautions and Side-effects

Since, Plavix inhibits blood coagulation, it is essential to make use of sharp objects such as razors, nail cutters, knifes, and many more carefully.

Before any surgery or dental work, you must stop taking Clopidogrel for 5 to 7 days in advance. However, consult with your cardiologist for more information.
