- Located 19 miles east of Beaufort, South Carolina, Fripp Island is the most seaward of the state's Sea Islands.
- Fripp Island covers 3,000 square miles and boasts 3.5 miles of pristine beach facing the Atlantic Ocean. The high average temperature in the summer months is 88 degrees F. Less than 1,000 permanent residents call Fripp Island home.
- Aside from the miles of beaches, Fripp Island has hundreds of resort homes and numerous entertainment options, including golf courses, tennis courts, fishing, boating, shopping and fine dining. The Ocean Creek Cabana Club and an elaborate water park designed for guests' enjoyment.
- In the 17th century, King Charles II hired Captain Johannes Fripp to defend England's settlement at Beaufort against marauding French and Spanish sailors. Fripp performed so admirably, the King rewarded him with the island. Fripp settled there and gave the island its name.
- During the 1600s, Fripp Island was a hotbed for pirates. Legend has it Captain Fripp even buried treasure somewhere on the island.
