Bathrooms require a fair amount of lighting by nature. Daily grooming demands it. As useful as overhead lighting is, wall lighting plays an important part also. Wall lighting provides a concentrated area of light, which is often necessary in bathrooms. - Choose a mirror flanked with side cabinets to provide extra storage. The mirror and cabinet assembly should be the same width (or extremely close) as the sink counter. Hang inverted wall sconces above the mirror for focused light on the vanity area. Brass or brushed nickel wall sconces are the best option for this traditional-style bathroom.
- Illuminate a full-length mirror with a pair of wall sconces. Full-length mirrors give an overall view of a person. At times, shadows or poor lighting can seem to make a person look awful. To combat this problem, install a set of wall sconces on either side of the mirror. Choose large sconces to balance the length of the mirror.
- Hang a double set of sconces on either side of a standard mirror. Candelabra-style sconces are a good way to dress up these otherwise plain mirrors. Alternatively, ultra-modern abstract sconces can also work with this style mirror.
- Install an ornate frame around a standard mirror to add style. Paint the frame in the desired color and add sconces on either side. Choose vibrant colors, such as red or green, for the light shades to enhance the royal feeling put forth by the mirror.
