Camping a one of the most popular past times for people. It offers them an escape from city life, spend quality time with friends and loved ones and also experience the beauty of nature. However to thoroughly enjoy a camping trip one has to be prepared and safe. After all you may be out in the wilderness miles from any support.

First and foremost when taking a trip is making sure you have survival supplies. No that does not mean enough battery charge on your laptop or mp3 player. It means being prepared for the entire trip with things that you normally have at home that you don't have to give a second thought because its always there. Prime example is energy. There are no light switched on the rocks and trees when the sun goes down. It is dark as it was before lights and lanterns we invented. So make sure you pack plenty of flashlights and extra batteries.
A first-aid kit is a must no ands, ifs, or buts about it.
If your are taking an RV or any other device that requires electricity to run like a stove or heater then you need to make sure you have an adequate generator. There are multiple options for generators ranging from their size to the way they create energy. Depending on how many things you need to power you may need a larger or smaller one. Most generators describe what they can power and for how long. Some generators are based on an electrical charge, other gas and some newer ones are powered by solar power.
Now mind you at night typically you are sleeping, but if you're in a tent or lying directly under the stars you will want to build a camp fire. Many premade camp sites have certain requirements about fires and how big they can be. It must a containable fire. This fire can provide you with evening light, heat and even a source for cooking food.
If you are not planning on bringing a generator of any sort then make sure you bring proper cooking utensils and cook ware. You will want to make sure to bring a grill rack of some sort that you can place over the fire, and then you may place whatever you're cooking on top of it. Can foods may be cooked within the can, although make sure you remove the lid first. Another essential item for cooking will be a skillet. Whether it is cooking meat for dinner or eggs for breakfast. A skillet over a warm fire will cook up a hearty and delicious meal.
Water and food is essential, you do not want to run the risk of running out part way through your trip. Depending on how far into the wilderness you go there may not be a supply store for some ways. Having an emergency store of water is very important.
Adequate clothing is also a must. Camping is not a time to wear your high heels or crocs or slip ons. The terrain is rugged and you will strong dependable shoes. Depending on the time of year you go it may colder in the high elevation then back at home so bring enough to keep you warm.
Following these tips and being prepared will allow you to enjoy your camping trip to its fullest.
