    • 1). Lay down garden pavers. Stone pavers come in a variety of colors. Place these around the perimeter of the space to add some visual interest or over the whole surface to cover it up. They also come in different textures, from a flat smooth surface to natural rough ones that are uneven. If you choose to use the latter in some of your outdoor decorating design, it is better to place these around the edges, out of the way of the standard walking path.

    • 2). Plant flower boxes. A small garden atmosphere is a must for an outside living space when landscaping a concrete patio. Whether this means actually planting some of your favorite blooms, a small herbal garden or just a few simple touches of greenery. Some hardier types of plants include coleus, spider plants, and "air ferns", that need only air to survive. If you are not into the flower box style, everything from clay pots to crystal vases can be used as well when you are figuring out how to landscape your concrete patio.

    • 3). Choose your decorations. Just like when you are redoing a room inside of your house, no outdoor decorating project is complete without accessories. Some great choices of garden decor include water fountains, statues of everything from fairies to animals. Investing in some solar lights and candles are a great way to set the mood during evening relaxation. There are also a lot of decorative pest controllers from mosquito torches to special lights that keep the bugs away. Even smaller items such as miniature river rock gardens, zen sand trays, and bowls filled with floating blossoms can transform an outside living space.
