How to Transfer VHS Analog to DVD Digital Video
- 1). Insert the three plugs on one end of the composite cables into the playback jacks on the VCR, matching the red, yellow and white jacks to the colors on the plugs.
- 2). Attach the plugs on the other end into the jacks on the converter box.
- 3). Connect the USB cable from the socket on the converter box to any free USB socket on the computer.
- 4). Plug in the power cords and turn on all components.
- 1). Open the conversion software on the computer by double-clicking the name of the program. The conversion software comes on a CD included with the converter box.
- 2). Load a pre-recorded VHS tape in the VCR and press "Play" if the tape does not automatically start playback, then click the "Record" button on the conversion software. Click "Stop" when the tape is finished playing.
- 3). Click "File" and select "Save" to store the new digital video on the computer, typing a name for the file if desired.
- 4). Load a blank DVD in the computer's media tray and open the software for burning a disc, such as Windows DVD Maker or iTunes. Click "Add Files" (or "New Project" in iTunes) to choose videos for burning to DVD. Click on as many videos as desired until the disc reaches recording capacity. The software will display a time remaining message at the bottom of the screen.
- 5). Click "Burn" or "Burn DVD" to record the digital video onto the disc.
