The Best Ways to Clean Walls

    Preparation

    • Before you wash your painted or wallpapered walls, dust them to remove any loose dirt and grime. Use a dust mop, Swiffer or feather duster, starting from the very top and working your way down the wall. Sweep or vacuum up the piles of dirt left on the floor when you are finished dusting. Mix a bucket of water with a general purpose cleaning solution. Fill another bucket with clean water for rinsing. Gather several towels as well.

    Cleaning Painted Walls

    • Use a towel dampened with the cleaning mixture to wash your painted walls. Starting from the bottom of the floor and working your way up, wash the walls in sections using circular motions. When the section of wall is completely washed with the cleaning solution, wet another towel with the clean water and rinse that section. With a dry, clean towel, dry the section of wall immediately after you rinse it. Repeat this process until all your walls are clean.

    Cleaning Wallpaper

    • Wash the walls in small sections using overlapping circular motions. Rinse the section of wall with a damp, not wet, sponge or towel. Pat the section gently with a clean towel to remove any excess moisture. Repeat this process until all your walls are cleaned. If there are stubborn areas of dirt that need to be re-cleaned, wait until the wall is completely dry before washing it again.
