Home remedies to get rid of fibroids are an alternative worth trying, particularly if the options presented to you by your doctor leave a lot to be desired. Very often, doctors will recommend "watchful waiting", which really means that you should live with your symptoms unless they are unbearable.

Now there is a wide gap between mild and unbearable symptoms and all the degrees in between. Many women simply put up with uncomfortable and painful symptoms because they feel that conventional treatment has little to offer, and in reality this is the truth for many women. Even surgery and drug treatment can be little more than a temporary measure as unless you eliminate the root cause your fibroids are likely to regrow and this can take place within a few short months.

One of the common factors in fibroid growth is excess estrogen within the body. This can come from a number of sources, including the diet, excess weight, environmental toxins and pesticides. A great starting point is to reduce these levels and this can be done by using home remedies to get rid of fibroids.

Start by measuring your BMI (body mass index). If it is within the normal range (21-25) then your weight is unlikely to be an issue. The further over 25 you go, the more likely it is that your weight is a contributory factor in your fibroids. Estrogen is stored and manufactured in the fat cells and therefore the more body fat you have, the higher your estrogen levels are likely to be. Reducing your weight can have a big impact on your fibroids, particularly if you implement other measures too.

Watching what you eat can help too. Eating organic meats will ensure that you are not ingesting growth hormones which are sometimes fed to livestock. Pesticides can also contain compounds which have the effect of mimicking estrogen, thus fueling fibroid growth, so washing and peeling fruits and vegetables and largely trying to eat only organic varieties will help.

Other home remedies to get rid of fibroids include taking great care with the containers and wrappings you use for your food. There is some evidence to suggest that substances called Phthalates can leach from these containers and enter the food. This can then become stored in the body and cause imbalances in hormones, thus increasing the likelihood of fibroids.
