From humble beginnings to a world class zoo

The Audubon Zoo in New Orleans began in 1884 when the World's Fair closed down leaving a few monkies and birds. The zoo turns 120 this July and plans to celebrate the occasion with special events on July 23 and 24

Food and drink

There will be Great Food like Jamaican Chicken, Fried Eggplant with Crawfish Cream Sauce, Shrimp Po-Boys, and Blackened Shrimp Wrap.

There's also free ice cream and party hats for guests. If you're really brave you can eat a bug from the Aububon Bugmobile.

Lots of family fun

For entertainment, don't miss the "Melon Stomp" featuring the Zoo's Asian Elephants Panya and Jean. There's also a water slide and a DJ all day both days. Johnette Downing will perform Sunday, July 24 at 2:00pm.

Kids can sign a birthday card and enjoy visits from costumed characters such as Audubon Zoo's Pierre the white alligator, Audubon Aquarium of the America's Otteaux the Sea Otter, and more!

Parents can catch a special appearance by YOUNG AND RESTLESS STARS, Christian LeBlanc and John Enos at 1PM on Saturday. And the best part, the first 120 kids get in free! So, get out to the Audubon Zoo.
