How to Get Rid of Pond Weeds and Grass
- 1). Put on work gloves and chest waders, and then walk into the pond. Use a pond rake to uproot the grass and weeds, and then place the grass and weeds in a bucket.
- 2). Use vinegar and salt to kill the weeds and grass if they grow back. Mix vinegar and salt together in a spray bottle. Spray the solution onto the weeds and grass in the pond. The vinegar and salt will not kill any animals in the pond, only the weeds and grass.
- 3). Add grass carp fish to your pond to eat the grass and weeds if the vinegar and salt solution is unsuccessful. Introducing grass carp to the pond is a long-term solution to preventing weeds and grass from taking over the pond.
- 4). Apply a fish-friendly herbicide to the weeds and grass, according to the manufacturer's directions. Applying the herbicide is necessary only if the weeds and grass grow back.
