If food is your thing, then Dallas is your town. Festivals, competitions and fairs offer distractions for even veteran foodies. Each year, Dallas hosts the world famous Dallas Wine and Food Festival, featuring gourmet food and world class wines. The event lasts for five days every spring and is hosted at various locations in the city to showcase the best of fine dining in Dallas.
According to the festival website, the Rising Stars Chef contest is a focal event in the festival. Chefs compete to create the best combination of food and wine. The competition is open to professional chefs from fine wine and dining establishments and culminates in a cook-off between the contestants. (See Reference 1.)

The annual Greek Food Festival of Dallas offers visitors the sights, sounds and tastes of Greece. Enjoy Greek food, wine and the Greek Coffee House during your visit. It's Greek culture with a Texas twist that is now a 50-plus-year Dallas tradition.
The annual festival features music, dancing and shopping, as well as activities for your children. According to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, the community sponsors the festival to share the tastes and culture of Greece. The festival runs from 4:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. on both nights.

Every fall, thousands of people come to have a good time under the watchful gaze of Big Tex, the 50-foot-tall cowboy mascot of the State Fair in Dallas. For a hundred years now, people have come to ride the rides, listen to world class music and see the exhibits at the fair.
Attractions include performances on the Chevrolet Main Stage every night, featuring talent in every genre and style. Light shows, fireworks and parades light up the fairgrounds, and visitors can watch as world class chefs demonstrate their favorite dishes.
People with tickets to college football games in Cotton Bowl Stadium during the fair can get free admission to the fair on game day, according to the State Fair of Texas website, (See Reference 3.)
