    • 1). Pick some plant matter from a fresh aromatic herb or plant. A few easily accessible plant materials you could use are lavender flowers, lilac flowers or rosemary needles. Depending upon which plant you choose, you might use the root, flower, or leaves to make the aromatic oil.

    • 2). Spread the plant material to cover the bottom of a large skillet. Add some canola oil to the skillet so that it completely covers the plant matter. You can also use olive oil instead of canola oil.

    • 3). Simmer the oil and plant matter for a few hours on low heat and do not let it boil. If it starts to boil, take it off the heat, let it cool, and place it back on the burner at a lower setting.

    • 4). Place a funnel through the mouth of a glass bottle. Line the funnel with a coffee filter. Strain the oil through the coffee filter and into the glass bottle. You can dispose of the plant matter. Cap the bottle tightly and keep your oil in the refrigerator, because plant oil will eventually spoil.
